About St. Thomas Technical High School

Established in November 1970 as Stokes Hall Junior Secondary School in Orange Walk, Eastern St. Thomas, the institution began with grades 7, 8, and 9 and has undergone a name and system changes, becoming St. Thomas Technical High School (the only technical school in the parish) in 1988, after adding grades 10 and 11 and switching from a shift system to an extended day. The school has been led by numerous principals, starting with Mr. Melville Singh, and has experienced significant growth in infrastructure and curriculum, including the addition of Sixth Form in 2007, which offers CAPE alongside CSEC, City and Guilds, and CVQ/NVQ examinations. Dedicated to the holistic development of students—mentally, physically, socially, and spiritually—the school emphasizes mandatory participation in co-curricular activities and a Compulsory Community Service Programme, with its academic performance guided by the motto, "Excellence Through Education."
